screwdiver as weapon

Ammo cases have handles firmly attached and require no
implements to open or seal. I wouldn't open some
mysterious container in the woods either, but if I
were following clues and found a stashed ammo case
where the clues said it would be, I'd open it. This
deterrent for people who accidentally stumble on
letterboxes may be a plus. In the end I agree with
the writer who uses different box types for different
locales. Tupperware in the city and steel out in the
boondocks.

(ps just bought my first eraser and am going to try my
hand at carving this weekend. Guaranteed to be ugly.)

And, of course, you can always paint over the military markings, plus
paint/stencil/letter words to the effect of "NO DANGER" and/or
"LETTERBOXING.ORG" on the box to assure the accidental finder that there
are no live shells inside.
